The Classical Association of Scotland, founded in 1902, exists to promote and sustain classical studies in Scotland. The Association includes representation from Scotland’s oldest universities: Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. Our local branches are dynamic organisations, hosting extensive programmes of lectures and other events that are open to any and all interested. With these local branches, we also organise the annual STAGE meeting of postgraduates in Classics and Ancient History, showcasing the best new research in the field being conducted at Scottish universities.
Alongside our work in higher education, we are passionately committed to the principle that Classics is a subject that should be available to every child in Scotland, regardless of their background, location or ability. Since 2018, we have worked closely with Classics for All and other organisations to expand the provision of classical subjects amongst Scotland’s state schools.
We believe that Classics is a uniquely engaging subject that offers a wonderfully diverse range of topics, and we welcome anyone who is interested in finding our more about the ancient world.
