The Classical Association of Scotland is thrilled to announce that its 2024 Ancient Voices summer programme is now open for registration. You can access the Summer School page HERE or via our ‘Ancient Voices’ tab on the website.
The Ancient Voices programme was launched with the twin aims of providing a high quality learning experience those interested in the ancient world, at a fair price and in a way built to fit in with busy life schedules, and of supporting scholars of different stages to deliver these courses with fair recompense for their time and expertise.
We are thrilled to be able to welcome back some teachers who have worked with us before, and also to welcome some new faces moreover to our teaching staff. Our tutors come from a real mixture of backgrounds within secondary and higher education, and are all incredibly enthusiastic about their subject!
Our programme covers a great range of languages again, including the following: Ancient Greek, Latin, Aramaic, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Hebrew, Sumerian Cuneiform and Ugaritic.
In addition to this, we are pleased to offer two further courses for learners at different stages:
Voices Ancient & Modern will expose learners to the little-taught language of Hurrian. It will also have a nod to our Scottish base with an investigation of the Celts and a taster at Gaelic!
We are also keen to engage school leavers this year, with a new course on School to University. This will cover a selection of topics designed to demystify Classics at the university level, and may be undertaken alone or in combination with any of our language streams!
The Classical Association of Scotland is proud to be able to interact with people at home and all over the world with this programme, so we hope that you will join us and dip your toe into some ancient languages, this coming July!
